Invisalign Clear Aligners in Carrollton, TX

You’ve thought about straightening your teeth. Maybe for years. The thing that stopped you was the image of metal braces at your age, or the idea of 18 months of food restrictions and wire adjustments.

Invisalign is the reason to revisit that decision. Clear aligners that most people won’t notice. Removable for meals, coffee, and anything else. No brackets, no wires, no putty impressions. At Josey Lane Dentistry, Dr. Scaggs and Dr. Penchan have helped patients across Carrollton and the DFW area straighten their smiles discreetly, on a timeline that fits their life. If you’ve been putting this off, here’s what you need to know.

How Invisalign Works

Digital Scan. We create a precise 3D model of your teeth using digital scanning technology. No putty. No gagging.

Custom Treatment Plan. Using ClinCheck software, your dentist maps out every tooth movement from start to finish. You can see a digital preview of your expected results before treatment even begins. You know exactly where you’re headed.

Custom Aligners. A series of clear aligners are made specifically for your teeth. You wear each set for about 1 to 2 weeks, then switch to the next one in the series.

Progress Check-Ins. Every 6 to 8 weeks, you’ll come in so we can check progress and hand off your next sets of aligners. Appointments are typically short.

Retainer. After treatment, you’ll wear a retainer at night to keep your teeth in their new position. More on that below.

Benefits of Invisalign

  • Nobody has to know. The aligners are clear and sit close to your teeth. Most people won’t notice them unless you point them out.
  • Eat what you want. Take them out for meals. Put them back after. There’s no list of foods to avoid.
  • No wires in your mouth. Smooth plastic, custom-fit to your teeth. Nothing poking, nothing catching, nothing snagging your cheek.
  • Treatment is often faster than you expect. Many patients finish in 12 to 18 months. Some straightforward cases wrap up in as few as 6 months. Your dentist will give you a realistic estimate during your consultation.
  • Brushing and flossing stay easy. Remove the aligners, brush and floss normally, put them back. No threading floss around wires. No special tools.
  • You see the result before you start. The ClinCheck digital preview shows you where your teeth will end up. You know what you’re working toward before treatment begins.

What Can Invisalign Treat?

Invisalign works for many common orthodontic issues:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Open bite
  • Generally crooked or misaligned teeth

If your case is more complex, traditional braces may serve you better. We’ll tell you that directly during your consultation rather than put you on a treatment path that isn’t right for your situation. Honesty matters more to us than filling an Invisalign slot.

Caring for Your Invisalign Aligners

  • Wear your aligners 20 to 22 hours per day. This is what drives results.
  • Remove them before eating or drinking anything other than water. Coffee, juice, and even tea can stain the aligners.
  • Clean aligners daily with a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water. Never use hot water. Heat warps the plastic.
  • Brush and floss your teeth before putting aligners back in.
  • Always store aligners in their case when not wearing them. Don’t wrap them in a napkin. That’s how they end up in the trash.
  • Lost or damaged an aligner? Call our office right away. The sooner we know, the sooner we can sort it out.

After Invisalign: Your Retainer

Once treatment is complete, we’ll fit you with a custom retainer to keep your teeth in their new position. Most patients wear it at night. Skip the retainer, and your teeth can gradually drift back toward where they started. Think of it as protecting the investment you just made in a straighter smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I too old for Invisalign?
No. Invisalign is popular with adults specifically because it’s discreet. Many of our patients are in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. Your age is not a factor. Your teeth and bone health are what matter, and we’ll evaluate those during your consultation.

What if I’m not consistent about wearing them?
Results depend on wearing the aligners 20 to 22 hours per day. Taking them out for meals and brushing is built into the plan. What slows treatment down is wearing them significantly less than that. We’ll talk about what commitment looks like during your consultation so you can decide if it fits your life before you start.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Most patients finish in 12 to 18 months. Simpler cases can be done in as few as 6 months. Your dentist will give you a realistic estimate during your first visit.

Is Invisalign painful?
You may feel mild pressure when switching to a new set of aligners. That’s normal and usually fades within a day or two. It means the aligners are working.

Can I eat with Invisalign in?
No. Always remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water. This protects the aligners and prevents staining.

How often do I need to come in?
Every 6 to 8 weeks for progress checks and to pick up your next sets of aligners.

Do I need a retainer afterward?
Yes. Wearing a retainer at night is what keeps your results long-term. We’ll fit you for one when treatment is complete.

Can I get Invisalign if I had braces before?
In many cases, yes. Invisalign can correct teeth that have shifted since your earlier orthodontic treatment.

If you’ve been thinking about straightening your teeth, a consultation is the logical next step. No commitment, no pressure. Dr. Scaggs or Dr. Penchan will look at your teeth, answer your questions, and tell you whether Invisalign is a good fit or if a different approach makes more sense for your situation.
