Barbecues, parades, fireworks and time spent lounging around the pool with family and friends: those are the favorite things to do on July 4th for the staff at Josey Lane. Like many of our patients, we enjoy spending our day off with other families in the area—particularly engaging in community events.
This Fourth of July we plan on getting out and about in Carrollton and hope to see all of you there! This year we are encouraging all our patients and families to keep connected and let us know what you are doing, too. Send us photos on our Facebook page or leave us a comment below and tell us what you choose to celebrate! And if you see us out, don’t forget to come over and say hi! We love see you and would love to meet more of your family and friends—especially your four-legged friends!

Fireworks: We’re going to start with that timeless thing to do on the 4th: watch fireworks once the sun goes down. Below we’ve included our favorite places to go in Carrollton and the surrounding area. If you’re lucky, you may be able to catch more than one display.
- City of Carrollton: The city will host its own 15-minute display over Josey Ranch Lake. You can catch the show from any of the surrounding neighborhoods, so pick your favorite spot and lie under the stars to take in the show.
- Kaboom Town: With a name like that, the fireworks better be amazing. Catch this display in Addison on July 3rd. In addition to the fireworks, there will be games, carnival rides and more.
- Farmers Branch: This neighboring city has a unique “low” display of fireworks. No need to crane your neck since all the action will be below 200 feet. This show is louder than others, so if you are sensitive to sound, it might be best to catch a show elsewhere.
Hit the pool: July 4th in Carrollton is guaranteed to be a scorcher, so to stay cool many of our staff hit the pool. And Carrollton, of course, has a number of pools that are great for all ages. Here are some of our favorites:
- Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex: Located next to the Rosemeade Recreation Center, this pool contains a zero-depth entry pool, two platform levels with a bridge, water cannons, bubblers, spray bars, water slides, a 200-foot lazy river alongside a 600-gallon dump bucket. There are even swimming lanes and a diving well!
- Farmers Branch Aquatic Center: Whether you’re looking to lounge in a lazy river or work up an appetite by swimming laps, you’ll find it all here. From water slides to dump buckets to splash pads, there’s more than enough to keep you entertained and cool at this pool!
- Splash Parks: Carrollton has two different splash parks that are perfect for toddlers or young children. Here kids can dance under falling water or slide down special tot-sized equipment. Parents can also sit back in the shade and watch the little ones run around. Although this isn’t a pool in the traditional sense, come prepared to get soaked!
Here at Josey Lane we like to consider all our patients an extension of our family. To that end, we hope you keep us updated on social media on your festive July 4th plans! We hope to see all of your out and about, too.
From all of us here, we hope that you all have a happy and safe holiday!
